Frequently asked questions

Please reach out to us if your question is not answered here!

We're happy to talk with you.

Equine Gestalt Coaching is a powerful, experiential method of healing that invites you to reconnect with your whole self.

“Gestalt” is a German word meaning “wholeness”—the idea that we are made up of many different parts that step forward depending on what life asks of us. Sometimes, though, those parts get stuck in the past. They carry old pain, trauma, or patterns that no longer serve us.

That’s where my horse and I come in.

Equine Gestalt is a coactive process, meaning we believe you already have the answers within you. They may just be outside of your conscious awareness right now. Through creative, present-moment exploration, we help bring those answers to light, often in ways that words alone can’t touch.

Each session is completely unique. For equine sessions, the horses and I follow your lead, attuning to what’s real for you in the moment. The horse acts as a mirror, a guide, and a partner in your healing. And the shifts that happen here? They’re not temporary. They’re transformative.

You will not leave as the same person who arrived.

Because horses don’t lie.

They don’t care who you pretend to be, how much money you make, or what you think you should feel. Horses respond to who you truly are, right here, right now. They sense what’s beneath the surface, even when you can’t name it yet, then they reflect it back with stunning clarity and unwavering presence.

That’s where the healing begins.

Horses are prey animals. Their survival depends on being deeply attuned to the energy, emotion, and intention around them. In session, this becomes a gift. They notice shifts in your body, your breath, your tone—and they respond with honesty, curiosity, and grace. Often, before you even realize something has changed, the horse already knows.

They aren’t here to fix you. They’re here to walk beside you as you remember that you were never broken.

The horse who chooses to work with you will always move toward your highest good. And what they offer can’t be manufactured, replicated, or predicted. It must be felt.

This is why we partner with horses.
Because when you stand next to 1,000 pounds of truth, something in you wakes up. You start to remember who you really are.

Therapy often focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, working with the past to help a client function better in the present. Therapists are licensed, often use talk-based techniques, and may guide clients through processing trauma, anxiety, depression, or other clinical issues over a longer period of time.

Gestalt coaching is not therapy—it’s something different, and often, beautifully complementary.

In Gestalt Coaching, we assume you are not broken. There is nothing to diagnose or fix. Instead, we believe you already have the answers inside you—we’re just here to help you access them.

This method is experiential, meaning we don’t just talk about what’s going on—we go into it. With the help of a horse, if you choose, and a trained Gestaltist, you’re guided to connect to your body, uncover the emotional roots of old wounds, and release what no longer serves you. It’s powerful, present-moment, body-based work that can create lasting transformation in just one session.

And unlike traditional talk therapy, Gestalt is not a long-term process unless you want it to be. Our goal isn’t to keep you coming back indefinitely—it’s to help you reclaim your wholeness and move forward feeling empowered, awake, and free. Often, one session is enough to clear out what's troubling you. This is an "as-needed" modality.

No, you don't! All you have to do is show up wearing your play clothes and close-toe shoes and expect to get a little dusty. Your safety is always top priority and you'll be guided through interactions with the horse as needed.

If you're afraid of horses, that's okay, too! We will go at your pace, and you'll never be pushed to do something unsafe.

This work is unridden. All work we do with the horse is done on the ground. The horse will be at liberty (loose) in the pen with you. We will never push you to do something you're uncomfortable with, or anything unsafe.

No, we do not work with kids. We work with individuals aged 20 and over. The depth and nature of Gestalt work requires a certain level of life experience, emotional development, and autonomy that makes it most effective for adults.
